Indonesia - SDPPI Type Approval - Overview

The Direktorat Jenderal Sumber Daya dan Perangkat Pos dan Informatika Republik Indonesia (SDPPI) is the government agency responsible for regulating and enforcing the proper functioning of Indonesia's radio frequency spectrum and telecommunications network.

SDPPI oversees the approval process for radio frequency transmitter and receiver products intended for the Indonesian market. These products, which utilize the radio spectrum or connect to the public network, are subject to a mandatory approval process. This process takes place at recognized laboratories and requires certification issued by SDPPI.

To obtain SDPPI's Type Approval, local importers, who must possess a Business Registration Number (NIB), are required to register through SDPPI's online platform and provide the necessary documentation. The SDPPI Certificate, which remains valid for 3 years, serves as evidence of compliance with SDPPI's regulations and requirements.

Furthermore, Indonesia has developed its own conformity assessment system, aligning it with international standards. This comprehensive system includes various elements such as HS code classification, certification procedures, and the option for local laboratory testing and labeling.
