CRA Qatar Initiates Public Consultation to update the Short Range Devices Class License and allowed bands
The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) of Qatar has officially released the updated regulation “Class License for Short Range Devices – Version No. (5).” This latest iteration reflects the ongoing evolution in telecommunications standards and is now available for public consultation.
Interested parties and stakeholders are encouraged to review and provide their feedback on the document. The consultation period is open until 25 June 2024, after which the CRA will consider all submissions before finalising the regulation.
The updated SRD regulation proposes the below revisions in the allowed Bands:
1- 433.05 - 434.79 MHz added to the M2M applications allowed bands
2- UWB bands added with more clarity as below:
a. 3100-3400 Mhz
b. 3400-3800 Mhz
c. 3800-4200 Mhz
d. 4200-4800 Mhz
e. 6000-8500 Mhz
f. 8500-9000 Mhz
3- New allowed bands for movement detection and alert systems added as below:
a. 9200 - 9500 MHz
b. 9500 - 9975 MHz
c. 17.1 -17.3 GHz
d. 4500 - 7000 MHz
e. 8500 MHz -10.6 GHz
f. 6000 - 8500 MHz
g. 24.05 - 26.5 GHz
4- 100Hz - 9kHz band added in inductive applications allowed bands
5- New allowed bands added for GPS receivers as below:
a. 1- 1559 - 1610 MHz
b. 1563 - 1591 MHz
c. 1164 - 1215 MHz
d. 1215 - 1300 MHz
6- New additions for Wireless applications in Healthcare and Listening Devices
a. 315 - 600 kHz
b. 12500 - 20000 kHz
c. 430 - 440 MHz
7- New allowed bands for radio microphones and hearing Aid systems:
a. 100 Hz - 9 kHz
b. 169.4 - 174 MHz
c. 169.4 - 169.475 MHz
d. 169.4875 - 169.5875 MHz
8- Revisions in the Wireless Microphone Systems allowed bands as below
a. 1785 - 1805 MHz
b. 821.5 - 826 MHz
9- Specific technical requirements introduced for UWB devices installed in road and rail vehicles only
10- Wifi 6E band added as 5925 – 6425 MHz
