Indonesia Boosts Digital Connectivity with Wi-Fi 6E Launch

Indonesia has made a significant leap in digital connectivity by launching Wi-Fi 6E in the 6 GHz band, supported by new regulations to ensure smooth implementation. This initiative was announced on February 8, 2025, by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs (KOMDIGI).

The launch includes two key regulatory measures. Regulation No. 2 of 2025 updates previous rules to permit the use of the 5925-6425 MHz band under class permits. It sets power limits for equipment: Very Low Power (VLP) devices can operate indoors and outdoors with a maximum power limit of 14 dBm, while Low Power Indoor (LPI) devices are restricted to indoor use with a limit of 23 dBm.

Additionally, Decree No. 12 of 2025 establishes technical standards for using the 5925–6425 MHz band and RLAN telecommunications equipment. These standards aim to ensure efficient and reliable connectivity across devices.

This move is expected to significantly boost internet speeds and support high-bandwidth applications such as 4K/8K video streaming. It also strengthens Indonesia’s position as a digital leader in Southeast Asia, marking a vital step toward enhanced digital infrastructure.

The above details are extracted from the official documents Regulation No. 2 of 2025 and Regulation No.12 of 2025.
