On February 6, 2020, the Tunisian government enacted Decree No. 48, introducing significant changes in the regulation of encryption approvals. This move marks a significant step towards streamlining the certification process and enhancing the efficiency of regulatory oversight in Tunisia.

Governmental Decree No. 48 brings two major updates:

1. Unified Certification: CERT now regulates encryption approvals, a role previously handled by ANCE. A single certificate will now cover both RF/telecom and encryption requirements, simplifying the approval process.

2. Indefinite Validity: Type Approval Certificates issued by CERT will have indefinite validity, replacing the previous three-year renewal requirement. Existing certificates nearing expiration will need to be reissued under this new system if those devices are to be imported into Tunisia in the future.
