In Pakistan, Radio and Telecommunication Equipment is subject to mandatory Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Type Approval before import, production and usage. There are few exemptions to this Approval scope which are presented on this page below.  

 

Relevant Radio, EMC and safety test reports as per applicable test standards along with DoC and technical literature are required as key application documents.

- What is Pakistan PTA Type Approval ?

Pakistan PTA Type Approval is Pakistan Telecommunication Authority's certification procedure for Telecommunication equipment's allowability in-line with Pakistan Technical and equipment standards.

- What is the validity of Pakistan PTA Type Approval ?

Pakistan PTA Type Approval has unlimited validity. However, re-approvals are required in-case of any hardware changes to the approved equipment.

- What is the Lead time to complete Pakistan PTA Type approval ?

​- Are there any exempt equipment from Pakistan Type Approval ?

Labelling/marking requirements for Pakistan PTA Type approval include wording "Approved by PTA" and "Approval No.". E-labelling is allowed in Pakistan.

No. Manufacturers can be certificate holders for Pakistan Type Approvel process.

- Is Wifi 6E allowed in Pakistan ?

Yes, as of May 2024, Wi-Fi 6E has been allowed in Pakistan as per below details:

Allowed Band : 5.925-6.425 Ghz

Output Power Limit : 23 dBm Indoor use and 14 dBm outdoor use

PTA approved devices after Type Approval certification can be checked through the Approved Devices register at the regulator's website. Please contact us for more details in this regard.

- Which equipment requires PTA Type Approval ?

As per the enacted Type Approval and SRD regulations in Pakistan, all terminal equipment requires Pakistan Type Approval including:
